State of Mind

This week’s focus was a little different and more spiritual as I mainly did yoga for transitions and for my mental well-being. At first, I was shocked by the varieties of yoga as there are so many aspects ranging from yoga for uncertainty to yoga for peace.

When it comes to health, people often associate it with physical health and not the mental and social aspects of it. Hence, it’s good to see exercises dedicating to managing our life stressors. In the videos, the instructor repeats “you are strong” and it’s not referring to strength but our state of mind. Awareness is emphasised as well as the mantra that “we are more alike than we are different” which I strongly agree with. This unity is much needed in our society to erase the boundaries such as racism and sexism. To end the yoga session, the instructor simply lies on the floor. I did that and felt extremely relaxed yet with a sense of awareness. I would strongly recommend these sessions to anyone who is dealing with anxiety or even societal pressure as by the end of it, you will focus on yourself and be more positive.
